Foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani, addressing reporters, stated, “The accusations linked to an Iranian role… are based on political reasons.”

Kanani noted that Iran's stance is one of non-intervention in the decision-making processes of other nations, including Palestine. Iran has a longstanding policy of not recognizing Israel and has consistently supported the Palestinian cause since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Notably, Iran was among the first countries to praise Hamas's unexpected and devastating assault.

According to Kanani, the Palestinians possess the necessary capacity and determination to defend their nation and reclaim their rights without requiring assistance from Tehran. He argued that discussions about an Iranian role serve the purpose of diverting public opinion from the facts and potentially justifying future actions by Israel.

These developments come after The Wall Street Journal reported allegations that "Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas’s Saturday surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday," citing senior members of Hamas and Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah movement.
