Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) investigations into a suspected foodborne illness incident in Oyibi, in the Adenta Region of Accra, reveal that 53 people developed foodborne illness symptoms after consuming waakye, or basic rice and tomato stew, from a food vendor.
The exams, conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), also reveal that one person has been reported dead; however, the cause of death has not yet been determined.
An assertion given by the expert in Accra on Friday said a natural evaluation of the food planning site of three distributing locales at Shrub Flask, Jail Joint and Sharp Bend Joint uncovered unfortunate food dealing practices that might have brought about the tainting of the food, prompting the foodborne illness episode.
The assertion said the FDA had suspended the tasks of Yellow Sisi until measures had been set up to guarantee that their exercises were carried into consistence to forestall future event.
The FDA sent off its Road Food Distributing Plan in November 2021, related to the Metropolitan, City and Area Gatherings.
The plan, which was created under the FAO Sound Road Food Impetus Task, targets giving consistent sellers a Road Food Distributing Grant.
The assertion asked buyers to pay special attention to the grants at their #1 diners prior to belittling their administrations.
