The government of Delta State has declared its dedication to enacting policies to boost preventive care and public health.
This was said by State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, in a message to Deltans in honour of World Health Day in 2024.
According to him, the Delta State Ministry of Health is aware of how critical it is to prioritise health as a fundamental human right.
He said, this government is dedicated to making sure that all citizens, regardless of background, have equal access to high-quality healthcare services. Along with other high impact interventions, they have been putting in endless effort to establish the One Health approach as a significant strategy.
He revealed that the state government had recently started hiring and deploying more human resources, such as doctors and nurses, across the 66 secondary health facilities in the state as part of efforts to improve the state's health care delivery and address the shortage of medical personnel in government hospitals due to brain drain.
Onojaeme stated that they have acquired and distributed hospital equipment throughout Secondary and Primary Health Care facilities, improved skills by increasing the capacity of health care workers throughout the state, and that the process for recruiting additional cadres of health personnel was almost completed.
