Nollywood Actor Solomon Akiyesi Passes Away in His Sleep

His death was announced on Monday by the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu.

Veteran Nollywood actor and producer Solomon Akiyesi has passed away.

The actor's death was announced on Monday by the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu.

Yakubu noted that Solomon passed away in his sleep on Sunday, and his remains have been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja.

“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. Slept and did not wake up from sleep. We await further details from the family. His body is in the mortuary in Abuja where the sad incident happened,” Yakubu asserted.

He said the guild is still expecting more reports from the deceased’s family regarding the cause of his death.

Akiyesi was born and raised in Ososo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo State.

He began his acting career in the late 1990s and went on to feature in over 100 films, including Deadly Affair, Olaedo the Fisher Girl 2, Gen Z Wife, Kiss My Pain, Heart of a Saint, Pretty Liars, The End Is Near, Desperate Ladies, and others.

He served on the board of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and was the president of the National Association of Ososo Creatives.

Akiyesi’s death has come as a shock to Nigerians, with some expressing disbelief as tributes begin to pour in following the tragic news.
