Nigerian singer and record producer, Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, has disclosed that she used to mimic American rapper Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. a.k.a. Lil Wayne when she was younger.
In an interview on Real 92.3 FM's ‘The Cruz Show’, the Oscar-nominated diva disclosed that she used to imitate rappers, with Wayne being her inspiration.
“Hip-hop is my thing. I used to pretend to be a rapper. I love Lil Wayne as well. I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne when I was younger,” she claimed.
The singer said she’s looking forward to meeting Lil Wayne.
“I’ve not met Wayne. I want to meet him so bad. Very soon I know I’m going to meet him,” she added.
Tems rose to prominence after being featured on Wizkid's 2020 single "Essence," which peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following the release of the remix version with Justin Bieber.
