Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, sometimes known as Nedu, a prominent media figure in Nigeria has explained why he won't wed a virgin.
He revealed this on "On The Honest Bunch", a contentious podcast he co-hosted.
He continued by saying that the majority of virgins are incompetent decision-makers and that non-virgins make better decisions. The majority of virgins, according to him, view their virginity as their pride and the sum of their personal qualities.
He said, "If I wan marry, I'll not marry person wey be virgin. I will tell you why. I think girls that are not virgins make decisions better. Most girls that are virgins they believe 'Oh this is my pride. My virginity is my pride. My virginity is my value. I'm a 30-year-old and I'm a virgin. I've kept myself."
Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode, a guest on the show, responded by refuting Nedu's assertions that virgins are incapable of making sound decisions. She made it apparent that there are many ladies out there who are quite knowledgeable and have not yet been deflowered.
She said, "There are a lot of women who are virgins and are very knowledgeable. They know that is not all there is to them. You can bring one million, and they will increase it to fifty million. So, I don't think it is an experience thing. "Experience thing puts pressure on a lot of people. I'm speaking especially for people like Juliana [myself] that have a Juliana kind of mindset about this situation. I feel like that person who is a pro now did not start off as a pro. The person already has so many experiences with different men, maybe with the same man, and that is why the person is a pro.
"So, I feel like we live in a culture where people don't want to grow with you because there is so much hype about 'I hit it, I got it right. Yes, I screamed. I shout.' There is so much hype about that that a lot of people are not willing to just grow with you. And I feel like people who are willing to walk that journey with people, they share more bonds and connections, especially sexual journey, " Olayode added in response to Nedu.
Nedu's podcast has frequently made women the focus of its conversations for which he and the program have received harsh criticism for this.
