Twitter influencer KalyJay, professionally known as gyaigyimii on Twitter says he already had a following before the "Fix the Country" campaign began.
According to him, the campaign was not a ticket to stardom because he was already well-known through his tweets before launching the campaign.
"No, it wasn’t my ticket to stardom; I just felt the time was right. Meeting ambassadors and flying out of the country was due to my hard work. Before the Fix the Country campaign, people knew me on Twitter because I could change the trend list on Ghana Twitter. I know I have the power to make someone trend, I had that power before. I used to raise funds and other things before the campaign. I was that guy before fix the country, it was just a plus."
In an interview with Delay, the Twitter influencer disclosed how he had to back out at the last minute of the campaign as his life was threatened.
He added that the campaign was meant to help lay out the problems in the country, but it became politicized by political parties, so he had to lay low.
“When I started the campaign, it was non-partisan, it was to call for change in various aspects of the lives of the average Ghanaian. Along the way, it became politicized, and I realized that the whole campaign was losing its main motive, so I just had to withdraw because I am not a political person. I didn’t want to be tagged as a political person."
He continued to emphasize that he was never paid to start the campaign by any political leader but that it was something that should be addressed in society.
He is pursuing being an entrepreneur to be able to save the youth from unemployment. That way, he can, in his little way, fix the country.
