Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has threatened to sue musician Obidiz for N2 billion for disparagingly utilizing her name and picture in secular music audio and video.

Remember that on February 10, 2023, Obidiz launched a commercial for the song "Mercy Chinwo," including a photo of the gospel singer as the album's cover.

In a letter dated March 23 and written to Obidiz Lawson, Minstrel Mercy Chinwo, through her attorney Pelumi Olajengbesi, demanded that the secular musician remove the music audio and video from all music digital platforms.

"It came to our client's rude amazement that you just created and distributed a song titled 'Mercy Chinwo' containing insulting and derogatory lyrics," the letter stated among other things.

It continued, "That you remove, or cause to be removed, the song you published on called "Mercy Chinwo" from all music streaming services right away, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and any other site via which you made such publication."

"Failure upon which the full machinery of the law will be set in motion against you including seeking the Court of Law to award damages against you to the tune of N2,000,000,000.00 (Two Billion Naira) in a favor of our client," the gospel singer's solicitors warned Obidiz.
