The University of Ilorin has established a partnership with the North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, located in Zhengzhou, Henan, China.

This collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 5, 2024, during the First Exchange Mechanism Conference of the China-Africa Consortium of Universities and the China-Africa Higher Education Dialogue, held at the Beijing International Conference Centre.

The MoU will create academic linkages and foster educational collaboration between the two institutions, promoting cooperation in various fields including education, research, and cultural exchange.

The partnership is expected to enhance knowledge sharing and academic activities, benefiting both universities through joint research projects and staff and student exchanges.

Professor Wahab Egbewole, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, expressed optimism regarding the partnership, highlighting the significance of cross-cultural academic exchanges in a globalized world.

He emphasized the potential for both institutions to leverage their strengths in addressing global challenges, particularly in the areas of water resources and electric power. Egbewole reaffirmed UNILORIN's commitment to maintaining a respectful and honourable relationship with its Chinese counterpart.
