The academic community of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, is mourning the death of Dr. Ayo Ojediran, a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, who reportedly slumped in his office.

In the words of Victor Adesokan, President of the Faculty of Education Students Association of Nigeria, who was with Ojediran the night before his death, the deceased, described as a father, had complained of a headache and appeared very weak.

Adesokan highlighted the need for more academic personnel, pointing out that Ojediran’s demise marks the fourth death among the faculty's lecturers this year.

He urged the recruitment of additional staff to alleviate the burden on the current members, stating, “Government and the school management should stop wasting our lecturers’ lives.”
