The students, who were studying for their upcoming examinations, were taken on Thursday night at about 9 p.m. by bandits who stormed the campus. The kidnappers apparently entered through the bush, walked into three lecture halls, and started shooting into the air to intimidate the students.

Fanwo said that while nine students have been reported missing, local hunters and security personnel are attempting to guarantee the safe return of the kidnapped students.

The state Government expressed its gratitude to the local hunters and security personnel for their diligent work and ordered security personnel to be stationed outside every tertiary institution in the state.
