JAMB Contemplates Allowing Mobile Phones for UTME and DE Exams

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examinations Board is exploring the possibility of introducing a "Bring Your Own Device" initiative for the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations and DE.

The Registrar of the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this during the ongoing 2023 policy meeting at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja. The proposed initiative would allow candidates to use their mobile phones to take the examinations.

Prof. Oloyede highlighted the significant financial resources expended on examination conduct as the driving force behind the initiative. The presentation further emphasized the need for digital literacy, along with the establishment of a mobile examinational malpractice tribunal to address criminal activities while institutional bodies handle cases of misconduct.
