The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has urged Anambra natives living in Lagos to return home and make investments in their own interests because the state is open for business.
The governor spoke to them during a town hall meeting in Lagos that God wasn't mistaken by creating them as Anambra people.
Soludo listed the accomplishments of his government after one year in office and invited all present to think carefully and do everything in their power to contribute to the development of the state.
“Your host will never respect you if you don’t have a livable and prosperous homeland and we have a responsibility to leave Anambra State better than we met it”, the governor said.
He emphasized that Anambra State must be transformed from "a departure lounge to a destination" and that every Anambra citizen needs to have a strong sense of their ancestral home.
Soludo reassured people that his administration has drastically reduced the threat of killings and kidnapping in some areas of the state as a result of a functional security architecture put in place by his government, explaining that his administration is determined to restore Onitsha from its current chaotic nature by returning it to its former glory as the biggest commercial city in the South East and beyond.
Law and order, he said, should come first and assured that they had been considerably restored in the state compared to what he called "the impunity that held sway" prior to his taking office.
In addition to the more than 300 kilometers of roads already under construction, he declared that additional roads would soon be flagged off. He also mentioned that his administration had recently signed an MOU with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to provide the state with 24 hours of electricity.
However, he invited anyone who were interested in working with his administration to establish an independent power plant in the region.
He announced to the crowd that the Anambra Investment Summit would be held in September of this year and invited every business-minded Anambra citizen to attend.
