Heritage Bank Directors, Managers To Face Prosecution Soon - NDIC

Claims that the things done by the managers and directors of the failed bank that led to its liquidation must be investigated to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The Nigeria Deposit and Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has called on the Nigeria Police, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), and other law enforcement agencies in the country to prepare to prosecute the directors and managers of the recently liquidated Heritage Bank.

Mr Bello Hassan, Managing Director and CEO of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), disclosed this on Thursday in Lagos during the 2024 capacity development workshop for law enforcement agencies.

At the  workshop themed: “Inter-agency collaboration in the fight against financial malpractice in banks and other financial institutions in Nigeria”, Bello claimed that the things done by the managers and directors of the failed bank that led to its liquidation must be investigated to prevent such occurrences in the future.

“Let me say at this juncture that we are not unaware of the challenges of investigating and prosecuting financial malpractices and bank fraud cases but wish to urge you not to relent in your efforts, and to rest assured of our unflinching support at all times” he said.
