The recent joint naval exercise by Russia, China, and South Africa in the Indian Ocean has been minimised by the senior US commander in Africa.
General Michael Langley claimed that although America will not compel African states to choose which countries to cooperate militarily with, it would offer them considerably more beneficial security alliances.
The coordinated naval drill, according to Gen Langley, was China and Russia projecting their power.
When Russia sent a battleship outfitted with hypersonic missiles, South Africa sent more than 400 soldiers to the exercise.
South Africa has refuted claims that the training amounted to support for the conflict in Ukraine.
Also, Gen. Langley expressed concern about the rising destabilising influence of Russia's Wanger Group in crises throughout Africa.
The organisation has sent mercenaries to fight in Libya, Mali, and the Central African Republic.
