The African Union Emphasises Its 'Zero-Tolerance' to Coups

The AU announced that Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, and Sudan will continue to be suspended. Reiterating its policy of having zero tolerance for undemocratic transfers of power on the continent, the African Union.

The African Union announced on the penultimate day of a summit in Addis Abeba that it will continue to suspend Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, and Sudan, all of which are ruled by military authorities as a result of coups.

The AU was prepared to assist those nations in reestablishing constitutional order and establishing democracy, according to the commissioner for political affairs, Bankole Adeoye.

The summit's leaders also decided to move forward with proposals for a free trade agreement that would cover practically all of Africa.
