Raila Odinga, the leader of Kenya's opposition, stated that the new Kenyan administration is "illegitimate" and that his political alliance does not recognise William Ruto as the country's president.

In the election in August, Mr. Ruto defeated him, but Mr. Odinga — who showed up at Nairobi's Kamukunji Stadium with his running mate Martha Karua and other allies — continued to assert that the results had been rigged. claims that the court had previously ruled against.

The crowd erupted in clapping and cheers as he proclaimed that he and his movement "completely reject the 2022 election result."

He continued, "We cannot and we do not recognise the Kenya Kwanza dictatorship.

In his fifth attempt to win the presidency, Mr. Odinga was defeated in the 2022 election by Mr. Ruto, who was declared the victor in the absence of the four election commissioners who had voiced their disagreement and accused the commission chairman of presenting what they called "opaque" results.

The results were subsequently rejected by Mr. Raila, who then filed a lawsuit.

However, the Supreme Court confirmed Mr. Ruto's triumph. Dramatic accusations and denials of accusations have followed.

President Ruto most recently made the shocking assertion that there had been an assassination plot against Mr. Chebukati. Election chief Wafula Chebukati has said he was under strong pressure to release different results from the official ones.

Since then, a few of Mr. Odinga's Azimio Coalition allies have defected and formally endorsed the Kenya Kwanza government.

Others have stuck by his side in this new battle for what they refer to as electoral justice.

Despite the fact that the next general election is four years away, the main opposition is already demanding significant electoral reforms and the resignation of the incumbent government.
