According to the attorney general's office, the Supreme Court does not have the authority to decide the questions raised by the lawsuit.
Festus Okoye, National Commissioner of Nigeria's electoral agency INEC, told the BBC that the general elections will not be impacted by the impending critical elections and that "the dates specified by the commission for the conduct of the general election are fixed and firm."
Already, in an effort to combat rising inflation, cash hoarding, and counterfeiting, the Nigeria's Central Bank had revamped the 200, 500, and 1,000 naira banknotes in November of last year.
