Sebastien Haller, a player for the Ivory Coast, made his competitive comeback from testicular cancer on Sunday during Borussia Dortmund's thrilling 4-3 Bundesliga victory against Augsburg.

Soon after leaving Ajax in July 2022, the 28-year-old forward received a cancer diagnosis. His debut for Dortmund came when he came on as a substitute to replace Youssoufa Moukoko.

The former West Ham player, who was born in Ris-Orangis, France, underwent chemotherapy and surgery in November 2022 after a malignant tumour was found.

His entrance into the match in the 62nd minute, with the score tied at 2, was greeted by a raucous round of applause at Signal Iduna Park.

Jude Bellingham and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, both English teens, scored in the win, which saw Dortmund move up one spot into sixth place in the Bundesliga, seven points behind the league-leading Bayern Munich.
