Lagos Unveils Plan to Attract Tourist with Floating Houses

On Tuesday, the Lagos State Government unveiled plans to build floating houses in Isale Akoka Community as a way of attracting tourists and improving residents' quality of life.

Isale Akoka is a riverine community located in Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency General Manager Ajibike Shomade gave the assurance during a courtsey meeting with the Isale Akoka resident, which was in a statement signed by agency spokeswoman Adeola Olagoke.

The general manager stressed the government's commitment to providing its citizens with a world-class living environment.

Shomade, a town planner who works for the state government, said that officials have a vision of creating an environment that will attract tourists from all over the world to this community.

“Our vision is to develop a world-class environment for Isale Akoka Community, such as houses on water as seen in Cape Verde,  that will attract tourists from all over the world.

“It is a long-term project that will be beneficial to the community and an achievement to the state government.

“The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has kicked-started the process by graciously approving the construction of roads for accessibility as  can be seen on Oremeji Street, Alhaji Yinusa Street and Ajayi Olaiya Street,” she said.

She assured the group that she would work with them to make sure their vision was carried out.
