Gunmen Kill Two Policemen in Abia Checkpoint Attack

Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.

Unknown gunmen have attacked and killed two policemen at their checkpoint in Asaga Ohafia, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident happened just two days after a policeman attached to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, the lawmaker representing the Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South federal constituency was killed during an attack in Umuahia on Sunday night.

Witnesses said the gunmen focused on the checkpoint, shooting a policeman whose identity is yet to be known. Another officer involved in the attack is also reportedly dead.

Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
