Afrobeats singer David Adedeji Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has announced his appointment as Head of Youth Mobilisation for the Osun State campaign council, throwing his weight behind Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid.

The Nigerian superstar made the revelation via a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he expressed enthusiasm about the role and the upcoming campaign.

“I have been appointed by the governor of Osun State, @AAdeleke_01, and the flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY as HEAD YOUTH MOBILISATION OF THE CAMPAIGN COUNCIL! We look forward to a smooth campaign and your re-election, Your Excellency! 4+4,” he wrote.

Davido, who is a nephew of Governor Adeleke, has been a vocal supporter of the governor and played an active role during previous political campaigns in the state.

This comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke is seeking a second term.

Singer Davido’s latest appointment adds to his growing involvement in Osun State politics. In 2025, he was also named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a role designed to attract investment into sports development in the state.

He has consistently used his social media platforms to support his uncle’s political activities, with the two figures maintaining visible public alignment during elections and governance programmes.

According to reports, the Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 8, 2026, where political parties are already mobilising ahead of campaigns.

Davido’s appointment is expected to drive great youth involvement in the campaign, especially among his massive young fanbase within Nigeria and abroad.
