Nigerian music star Peter Obumneme Okoye, widely known as Mr P, has sparked conversations online after disclosing that he has formally changed the date he celebrates his birthday.

The singer on Monday, via his X handle, made the announcement in a post.

He wrote, “I am officially changing my birthday date.

“I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day.

“My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.

Mr P did not give further information explaining what led to the decision as of the time of filing this report.

The news unfolds amidst the ongoing rift between him and his twin brother, Paul.

Peter gained recognition in the early 2000s as a member of the music duo P-Square with his identical twin brother Paul, a.k.a. Rudeboy.

They dominated the African music scene throughout the 2000s and early 2010s with a string of hit songs.

Despite their success, internal conflict surfaced between them around 2015, largely linked to management disputes involving their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who oversaw their business operations. Issues surrounding royalties, creative control, and family involvement deepened tensions.

P-Square officially went their separate ways in 2017, with both brothers launching solo careers using the stage names Mr P and Rudeboy.

After years apart, the twins reconciled in November 2021 in a moment that excited fans throughout Africa and beyond.

Notwithstanding the reconciliation, reports of lingering disagreements later emerged, especially around financial transparency, royalty management, and corporate structures tied to their music catalogue.
