Anikulapo Wins Big at AMVCA Awards

At the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), which was held on Saturday to recognize some of the best in the African film industry, "Anikulapo" took home a significant prize.

Ik Osakioduwa, a media host and presenter, and Zozi Tunzi, Miss Universe 2019, from South Africa, hosted the event at the Eko Hotel Convention Hall in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Toke Makinwa, Uti Nwachukwu, Sika Osei, and VJ Adams served as four red carpet hosts prior to the grand opening of the main event.

John Ugbe, the CEO (President) of Multichoice, emphasized the association's responsibility toward enthusiasm for artists in the imaginative business.

"Remunerating the best in the landmass, rousing movie producers for carrying top of the line amusement into the homes of our watchers," he said.

The film Anikulapo, by Kunle Afolayan, began the night on a triumphant note, taking five honors at the current year's occasion, rising as the greatest victor.

Out of the 16 it was named for, Anikulapo won in the classes: Yoruba is the best indigenous language; Best In general Film; Best Movie or TV Series Sound Editor; Best Essayist (Film/television series); and the Beast SoundTrack (TV Series or Movie).

'Best Picture Manager' went to the Wrongdoing and Equity TV series, while 'Best Craftsmanship Chief' went to Grain Adeleke for the Yoruba epic film 'Ageshinkole'.

The comedy duo Elozonam Ogbolu and Bukunmi Adeaga Ilori, better known as Kiekie, won the award for Best Online Content of the Year.

The pair won the category award jointly.

The "Best Television Series" award went to Jadesola Osiberu's Brotherhood, while the "Best Movie in West Africa" award went to Crime and Justice.

The audience cheered loudly when it was announced that Bimbo Ademoye had won the AMVCA for the first time. She won Best Actress in Comedy, and Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggy, won the men's category.

Tobi Bakare won Best Actor for Brotherhood, while Osas Ighodalo won Best Actress for Man of God. Best Multichoice Talent Factory went to Leaked.

King Buga won Best Mnet Unscripted Originals, while Mpali won Best Mnet Telenovela.

Abiseta Ahmed won Best Supporting Actor and Efe Irele won Best Supporting Actress for the 4-4-44 movie.

Enioluwa Adeoluwa, a Nigerian influencer, and Beauty Tukura, a former BBNaija housemate, won the coveted title of Best Dressed male and female, respectively.

Patience Ozokwo won the 2023 Business Legitimacy Grant, for her excursion and commitment in the film business. Femi Odugbemi, the award's Head of Judges, gave the award to the winner.

Ozokwo thanked her fans for their love and praised the AMVCA organizers for the recognition.

Ada Ameh, Sola Onayiga, Sammie Okposo, Leonard Chimezie, Osmond Gbadebo, Gbenga Richards, Johnson Davidson, and Murphy Afolabi were honored during a moment of silence.
