Schneider Electric has joined forces with the Lagos State Government to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility, marking World Cleanup Day, a global initiative aimed at addressing the waste crisis.

In a statement released on Friday, Schneider Electric announced a clean-up event held in the Bada community, Idera market, and Ewenla garage in Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos.

The initiative was themed “Make Room for Life,” reflecting the company's commitment to environmental sustainability that goes beyond mere energy efficiency to encompass broader eco-friendly practices.

Dr. Hassan Sanuth, Director of Sanitation Services, emphasized that this United Nations-led initiative is recognized both nationally and globally.

He noted that Lagos State focused on Oshodi-Isolo for this year's clean-up and selected three key locations to highlight the importance of cleanliness in urban areas.

“All motor parks and markets actively participated in this initiative,” Dr. Sanuth stated. “We are pleased that this exercise aims to raise continuous awareness and encourage the sustained maintenance of a cleaner Lagos.”

Ajibola Akindele, Country President of Schneider Electric West Africa, represented by Marketing Communications Specialist Grace Ajayi, reiterated the company's dedication to fostering a healthy environment in Lagos State.

“We appreciate the Lagos State Government for collaborating with us on this initiative, and we look forward to creating a greater impact in the future,” Akindele remarked.

Mrs. Tari Taylaur, Senior Special Assistant on Environment to the Lagos State Governor, addressed attendees about the critical role of maintaining a healthy environment for future generations.
