Sunday Adepoju, the Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO of NIPOST, shared this information during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

He emphasized that the Postcode and AVS will be put into effect by October this year. This move is expected to enable NIPOST to contribute to the nation's revenue and address challenges related to Know Your Customer procedures.

Adepoju stated, "NIPOST is embracing digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency in a world where digital solutions and data utilization have become central. An increasing number of postal operators are adopting these changes.

The National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System is an initiative with the potential to significantly improve nationwide service delivery, enhance security, and generate revenue for NIPOST and other government agencies."

"Our teams collaborated closely with esteemed partners, including the National Population Commission, The National Space Research and Development Agency, Office of The Surveyor-General of the Federation, NETPOST, Avaris Worldwide, and other government agencies," he added.

He also highlighted the extensive benefits for both the public and private sectors, including crime prevention, reduced identity fraud, coordinated emergency services, improved border control, enhanced e-commerce, efficient data collection, increased financial inclusion, better healthcare access, and boosted tourism.

Nasir Kwarra, Chairman of NPC, represented by the Federal Commissioner, Bayelsa State, Mrs. Glory Izonfuo, reiterated the Commission's commitment to implementing the postcode.
