During the unveiling of the electric vehicle (EV) truck at the Ewekoro factory, Lafarge Africa Plc's Chief Executive Officer, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, hailed this achievement as a substantial step in their sustainability journey. He noted that the introduction of Nigeria's first heavy goods EV truck not only showcases Lafarge's dedication to innovation but also underscores the company's commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
Alade-Akinyemi shared insights into the company's ongoing efforts to integrate eco-friendly practices, explaining the positive impact on both the environment and stakeholders. The EV truck, he noted, brings about quieter, smoother, and safer operations, ultimately enhancing efficiency and the customer experience while contributing to a healthier planet.
The importance of the EV truck in Lafarge Africa Plc's logistics strategy was emphasized by Osaze Aghatise, the Logistics Director at the company, where he described it as a pivotal shift towards eco-friendly and sustainable transportation.
Aghatise reiterated the company's commitment to industry leadership, showcasing their dedication to competitive and sustainable supply chains. He also reflected on their past initiatives, starting with the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks in 2017 and their continued expansion efforts in 2021 with the addition of 50 more CNG trucks.
