African Leadership Accelerator ALX, a leading tech company, has struck a collaboration with the Enugu State government to train 5,000 youths in the state on artificial intelligence (AI) skills.

The collaboration, which is through the State Ministry of Youth and Sports, would see ALX provide its renowned Artificial Intelligence Career Essentials (AiCE) course for the training.

The planned collaboration aims to equip young people in Enugu with important skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and prepare them for the rapidly changing tech-driven job market.

By offering courses, the Enugu State Government and ALX are dedicated to democratizing access to high-quality tech education and enhancing economic empowerment among the youth.

The Enugu State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Lloyd Ekweremadu, during his keynote speech at the press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre, Enugu, stressed the benefits of such a partnership in driving socio-economic development and youth empowerment within the state.

Ekweremadu said Enugu State recognises the importance of equipping young people with relevant skills to excel in today’s tech-driven world and also compete worldwide in the technology and ICT space.

"We know there is a high rate of unemployment in Nigeria, and one of the purposes of these programmes and this government is to resolve youth unemployment, and we are taking advantage of this to build capacity among the youths through youth development in tech.

"Through this collaboration with ALX, we are opening doors of opportunity for 5,000 young people in our state, enabling them to harness the power of artificial intelligence and commence on promising career paths," the Commissioner reiterated.
