The most recent FIFA men's ranking, which was made public on Thursday morning, shows a drop for the Super Eagles in ranking.

In the FIFA standings, the three-time African champions fell eight spots, from 30th to 38th.

The Super Eagles encountered difficulties in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign after losing 2-1 to Benin Republic in a match held in Ivory Coast and suffering a 1-1 draw with South Africa's Bafana Bafana at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Nigeria also fell two places in Africa, coming in fifth place behind Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, and Cote d'Ivoire, in that order.

Argentina, the world champions, remained at the top of the rankings, followed by France, Belgium, Brazil, with England rounding out the top five.

The top climber in the rankings was the Lone Stars of Liberia, who moved up 10 spots to reach their highest-ever place of 142nd. With a gain of 37.47 points, the team also had the most points.

Equatorial Guinea experienced a significant reduction in their rating, falling 10 places and 47.53 points, which was the greatest decline.

With 210 teams ranked, San Marino is at the bottom, while the only unranked country is Eritrea.
