Super Eagles Job: Amuneke, Siasia, Okpala,Others Beat NFF Deadline

The NFF claimed that the prospective Super Eagles coach "must have proven experience at the elite level of football."

No fewer than 12 coaches beat Wednesday's deadline for submitting application letters to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for the vacant position of head coach of Nigeria's senior men's national team, Super Eagles, which was announced last week.

In the wake of Jose Peseiro's contract expiration at the end of February, the Super Eagles' federation declared the position vacant six days ago.

In an advertisement on its website inviting applicants, the NFF claimed that the prospective Super Eagles coach "must have proven experience at the elite level of football."

The NFF has received applications from the former head coach of Tanzania's senior men's team, Taifa Stars, and ex-coach of Nigeria's 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning team, Golden Eaglets, Emmanuel Amuneke, Finidi George, Peseiro's assistant coach, and Sunday Oliseh, former Super Eagles head coach.

Others who submitted applications before the deadline include Samson Siasia, a former Super Eagles head coach whose FIFA ban will shortly be lifted, Sylvanus Okpala, a former Super Eagles assistant coach under the late Stephen Keshi, and Michael Nsien, an ex-USA U-16 team coach of Nigerian origin.
