To hire the highly sought-after Herve Renard as the next Super Eagles coach, the NFF will literally have to break the Nigerian Central Bank. This comes as the French coach requested, among other things, a $180,000 monthly pay (about N253 million).

According to a senior official, the NFF has contacted Renard about joining the Super Eagles, but the main obstacle is that he wants a salary of $180,000 (monthly).

Renard has been offered a $1.9 million contract by Egypt, and his name has also been mentioned concerning the new coach of the United States.

The 54-year-old coach has led Zambia and Cote d'Ivoire to AFCON victories.

Recall that to keep his contract till the postponed AFCON in Cote d'Ivoire, Super Eagles foreign coach Jose Peseiro had to accept a significant wage reduction.

When Peseiro first took over as coach of the Super Eagles, his salary was $70,000 per month; however, this was eventually reduced to $50,000.

Even at that point, he was owed money for up to 13 months.

According to Sports Minister John Enoh, the NFF is in charge of covering the cost of hiring a foreign coach for the national team.
