Italian police said on Tuesday that a supporter of Paris Saint-Germain was seriously injured after being stabbed during pre-match brawls between football fans in Milan overnight, ahead of AC Milan vs. PSG in the Champions League.
According to ESPN, the victim sustained two leg stab wounds and was taken to the Policlinico hospital in Milan for medical attention, said the police.
The violence was condemned by AC Milan, who hosted PSG at San Siro on Tuesday.
The club wrote on social media platform X, "Football for us is passion, not hate," with the message written in French, Italian, and English.
“Sport is supposed to unite, not divide.”
Before Newcastle United's Champions League match against AC Milan in September, a supporter of the English team was stabbed in Milan.Milan, who made it to the semifinals the previous year, is currently bottom of Group F and has yet to score a goal or win in the current campaign.
