Senator John Enoh, Minister of Sports Development, has revealed that the Federal Government has sanctioned approximately N12 billion for Team Nigeria's training and participation in the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics in Paris.

The 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Paris, France, from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11.

He claimed that with that singular action, the President had effectively demonstrated and provided justification for the establishment of a separate ministry for sports development.

Enoh reiterated that the entire budget for the games was approved by the President as submitted, so, the gesture won’t be taken for granted.

The Minister said that N100 million has been kindly granted by the House of Representatives to assist Team Nigeria's Olympic participation in Paris.

He stated that Team Nigeria would aim to beat their greatest result from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, based on positive signals from Germany, where most of the athletes are currently camping.

As the Minister of Sports, Enoh stated that his goal is to win as many medals as possible in Paris, even if he declined to establish a goal for Team Nigeria.

Nigeria had its best-ever performance in the Olympics, winning two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals in their 17 appearances.

The Minister also expressed gratitude to the media for helping the team and making sure that all of the ministry's accomplishments and actions during the previous year received enough publicity.
