Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor of Team Nigeria have advanced to the Women's Long Jump final at the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Brume, who earned a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, jumped 6.76m to advance to the final, while Ruth Usoro and Prestina Ochonogor soared 6.68m and 6.65m, respectively, to reach the final on Tuesday.
This is the first time three Nigerians have qualified for an Olympic final.
Brume, a two-time world athletics championship medallist and five-time African junior champion, was on the verge of missing the final after a slow start.
However, the Nigerian international performed admirably in her final jump, securing automatic qualification for the Games' women's long jump final.
She and her teammates Usoro and Ochonogor will be competing for podium positions against 12 other competitors on Thursday.
