NPFL: Sporting Lagos Head Coach Lament Club's Congested Fixtures
Paul Offor, the head coach of Sporting Lagos, has voiced concerns about their demanding schedule after his team defeated the Niger Tornadoes 2-1 on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena to win their second game of the 2023–2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The team will play Kwara United in Ilorin on Wednesday before playing Kano Pillars in Lagos on Sunday. Furthermore, given his team's injury crisis, the manager maintains that his team will not benefit from the congested fixtures.
Offor, who spoke at the post-match interview, said: “This is a victory that we needed so much to be able to climb up the table after three previous matches without a victory. We needed this, and we are grateful that we got it.”
“We are worried about fixture congestion. At the moment, this is not a good time for us in terms of the injury we have at the back line. We have had four of our players subbed due to injury in the first half of the match, and hopefully we will have two players fit for the match this week. ”
I believe we have enough players in the squad to be able to manage the situation, and we will work on it.”
