Juventus won the Italian Cup on Wednesday, defeating Atalanta 1-0 and denying their opponents their first title in six decades.

In a relatively uninspiring final in Rome, Juventus won the cup for the 15th time thanks to Dusan Vlahovic's fourth-minute goal.

Massimiliano Allegri's team had only won three games since the end of January heading into the final, but they were disappointed from the time Vlahovic scored the game's only goal, which was also disallowed for offside in the second half.

Juventus, Italy's most successful and well-supported team, finally won a title after a three-year drought.

Atalanta was expected to win its first major trophy since 1963, following a fantastic season for the traditionally provincial club.

However, Gian Piero Gasperini's squad was unable to break through a well-prepared Juventus defence, which denied attack-minded Atalanta a single attempt on target.

The closest Atalanta came to equalizing was when Ademola Lookman's shot went off the base of the goalpost with just 10 minutes left to the end of the game.

Atalanta's focus now shifts to securing Champions League football in Serie A and next week's Europa League final.

Bergamo, who now sits sixth in Italy's topflight, will meet Bayer Leverkusen in their first European final in Dublin.
