José Mourinho, the former manager of Real Madrid and Chelsea, will be introduced as Fenerbahce's new coach later on Sunday, the Turkish Super Lig team said.

After strong indications for days that Mourinho would take over, the Istanbul team announced early on Sunday via a post on X that the Portuguese manager will be present at a ceremony at their Sukru Saracoglu stadium.

Mourinho, 61, sent a video greeting to Fenerbahce's supporters on Saturday night, saying he would "see you tomorrow in Kadikoy and let's start our journey together."

This is Mourinho's first position since he quit Roma in January, following 2.5 years that included a Europa Conference League victory in 2022 and several confrontations with officials.

Since 2004, when he joined Chelsea, then-owned by Roman Abramovich, after winning the Champions League and leaving Porto, the Portuguese player has never worked in a league outside of the top five in Europe.

In a career full of awards and off-field drama, he has since managed Inter Milan, Madrid, Manchester United, and Tottenham.
