Star player Victor Osimhen of Napoli acknowledged that the substantial offer from Saudi Arabia "would've changed his life" and made hints about which Premier League teams he might eventually join.
With 26 goals and five assists in 32 league games played, the Nigerian striker was the main attraction in the capital of Campania during their historic Scudetto victory last season. He garnered a lot of attention by standing out as one of Europe's most dangerous center forwards.
In the summer, Al-Hilal, a Saudi team, made a serious attempt to sign Osimhen and eventually made an offer of €200 million to Napoli. However, president Aurelio De Laurentiis declined, indicating that he wasn't prepared to let the star striker leave just yet.
In an interview with John Obi Mikel for the "Obi One Podcast," Osimhen initially discussed his thoughts on Al-Hilal's massive summertime offer.
“What was said is true. I have to be honest, I never thought about leaving last summer because Napoli wanted to keep me, but when the offer came from Saudi Arabia, a huge offer, it was hard to refuse. I spoke to Napoli and decided to stay.
The following summer, Mikel facetiously invited Osimhen to join Chelsea, offering to serve as a middleman.
“Next season I know you will come to Chelsea man! I tell you, I will be the agent who will broker that deal. I will make sure it happens. We are desperate for someone like you since Drogba left the club.”
Mikel then called Osimhen to head to Chelsea next summer, joking about acting as an intermediary.
