Finidi George, the new coach of the Super Eagles, has further clarified over the selection of the captain for the national team, stating that he was not responsible for making that decision.
Although the current captain of the squad, Ahmed Musa, is without a club and is not anticipated to play any more football for his country, William Troost-Ekong, his assistant, has led the Super Eagles in the majority of their games over the past years.
Finidi however stated that he will let the players choose who will be their leader.
In Ahmed Musa's absence, William Ekong has served as the Super Eagles' interim captain, while Kenneth Omeruo is now the team's oldest international player.
