Éric Chelle, a French-born coach from Mali, has indicated his desire to coach Nigeria's Super Eagles.

Chelle, who led the Malian team to the quarter-finals of the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and secured a 2-0 friendly victory against Nigeria, expressed his desire in a recent interview.

The former Lens captain declared that coaching Nigeria would be an honour and a proud moment for him. He stated that the Super Eagles possess great potential and a deep history, and he thinks he could help them succeed.

The football scene in Nigeria has recently seen a great deal of instability. After the AFCON, the Nigerian Football Federation fired Coach José Peseiro and appointed Finidi George, who was also fired after just two games. The Super Eagles' chances of making it to the 2026 FIFA World Cup are in jeopardy because of this instability.

Between 2022 and 2024, the Malian tactician has managed 22 games, winning 14, drawing 5, and losing just 3.

To consolidate and bolster the Super Eagles ahead of important forthcoming games, supporters and experts alike are eager to see if the Nigerian Football Federation will give Chelle's candidacy any thought.
