FIFA Ranking: Eagles Soar 14 Places Up, Rank 28th In The World

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations, have moved up 14 spots to be placed at 28th position in the February 2024 FIFA rankings.

According to the ranking table published on Thursday by the world football governing body's website, the team received 1,522 points, up from 1,474 points in December 2023.
The Super Eagles' upward momentum propels them to third position on the continent, trailing only Morocco and Senegal, which have 1663 (12th) and 1620 (17th) points, respectively.
Cote d'Ivoire, the recently crowned African champions, enjoyed the benefits of their continental win on home soil, rising ten spots to 39th place.

South Africa, the AFCON 2023 second-place finisher, advanced eight positions to 58th, while Egypt (36th), Cameroon (51st), and Ghana (67th) fell following early eliminations.

The Angolan team, who were eliminated in the last eight (93rd, up 24), is the biggest climber in the latest global ranking.

In terms of points, two-time Asian Cup champions Qatar (37th, up 21) leads the way (92.04 points) after successfully defending their continental crown at home.

Jordan (70th, up 17), who were eliminated in the final, and Thailand (101st, up 12), whose trip ended at the last-16 stage, are also on the rise.
