Taiwo Lawal, a football sensation from Nigeria, has officially parted ways with Robo Queens and signed a two-year deal with Atasehir Belediyespor of the Turkish Women's League.
Before becoming well-known with Robo Queens, the Nigerian attacker's football career began with Aseyori Queens.
By winning the Golden Boot Award in the 2022 Betsy Obaseki Women's Cup and scoring six goals during the event, she demonstrated her skill at scoring goals.
On her X (previously Twitter) account, Lawal, who rose to popularity as a prolific forward, revealed her transfer and expressed her excitement about starting a new chapter in her career.
She stated, “I’m happy to announce my official move to Atasehir Belediyespor in the Turkish Super Lig. I am so excited to continue the next phase of my career in Turkey.”
With three goals and three assists in her team's successful season, Lawal was named the Flying Officer's Cup preseason tournament's Most Valuable Player in Abuja in 2022.
Lawal expressed her thankfulness as she thought back on her time at Robo Queens, saying,
“I want to appreciate FC Robo Queens for the moments we had together. I learned a lot at the club, and I wish them well in their future endeavours. We had great memories together, but those memories will linger on.”
Lawal has represented Nigeria internationally at the U-17 and U-20 levels.
She is embarking on her first professional overseas move with Atasehir Belediyespor, and she will be motivated to leave her mark on Turkish women's football.
