On Sunday, Arsenal and Manchester City played out a goalless draw in the Premier League, which kept both teams behind Liverpool in the title chase. Liverpool were the biggest winners of the day, beating Brighton 2-1 to go top of the table, two points ahead of Arsenal and three clear of City with nine games remaining.

Liverpool were the biggest winners of the day in the the title race, defeating Brighton 2-1 to go top, two points ahead of Arsenal and three clear of City with nine games remaining.

A sharing of the spoils maintains City's undefeated home record dating back to November 2022 while ending Arsenal's eight-match winning streak in the Premier League. But the Gunners will be pleased with a point after preventing Pep Guardiola's side from scoring at the Etihad for the first time in two years.

City dominated possession but could not convert any chances against a Premier League defence that has conceded the fewest goals this season.

Arsenal have also been prolific scorers, scoring 33 goals during their eight-match winning streak.

However, the visitors had lost their last eight visits to the Etihad, including a 4-1 defeat when the title race shifted decisively in Man City's favour last season, and chose a counter-attacking strategy.

On his return to the Etihad, Gabriel Jesus came into the Arsenal side and pulled wide from the outside of the box, the visitors' best chance in a shot-free first half.

Nathan Ake wasted City's greatest chance of the first half when he failed to connect correctly with a dangerous Kevin De Bruyne corner, and David Raya gladly put away the loose ball.

Manchester City were already without key defence combination Kyle Walker and John Stones, who were both injured on international duty with England.

City's failure to find a winner means they are yet to beat any of the Premier League's top five this season.

And the champions now need Liverpool and Arsenal to help them become the first team to win four consecutive English Premier League
