Deborah Pam and Stephen Joshua won the fourth edition of the Chief of Defence Staff Armed Forces and Security Agencies Half Marathon Championship, held in Abuja in 2023.
Deborah Pam took first place in the female category, while Stephen Joshua took first place in the male category.
Stephen Joshua represented the Federal Fire Service (FSS), and Pam represented the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
In the hotly contested team events, the Nigerian Army triumphed, followed by the Nigerian Police Force in second place and the Nigerian Air Force in third.
250 military athletes from 13 security agencies participated in the event.
General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, directed security agencies to value and safeguard one another as co-stakeholders and partners in the interest of national security.
Through their numerous international championships, he claimed that members of the Armed Forces and Security Services had historically elevated Nigeria's standing in the world of sports.
“Unity among security agencies will foster public trust in us and improve their appreciation of our enormous sacrifices in confronting these security challenges. I therefore urge you to continue to be guided, at all times, by the sense of professionalism and spirit of sportsmanship in the discharge of your sacred duties”.
