Due to the hamstring injury he got after Manchester City's win in the Champions League final, Kevin De Bruyne will miss the beginning of the upcoming season.
The Belgian, who has been a key member of Man City since joining them in 2015, was essential to his team's historic treble-winning season last season but was compelled to sit out for a large portion of the victory over Inter Milan in Istanbul.
The 31-year-old started the UCL final but had to be replaced by Phil Foden after just 36 minutes due to what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
He will now be forced to miss at least the first two games of Pep Guardiola's 2023–24 season.
According to the Daily Star, the scan results shows that the Belgian has a grade three hamstring injury.
After losing to Liverpool and Leicester the previous two seasons, City will be aiming to win their seventh shield and their first since 2019.
De Bruyne is expected to be sidelined for about the next month and a half due to the injury, which will prevent him from playing in the summer preseason even if there is no need for surgery.
But more urgently, it's been reported that he won't be ready for City's season opener against Arsenal at Wembley on August 6.
