Benjamin Mendy, a former player for Manchester City, was found not guilty of rape and attempted rape by a jury at Chester Crown court.
The 24-year-old complainant was said to have been assaulted by the French defender in October 2022 at his Cheshire house.
He was also accused of attempting to rape a woman, 29, who had claimed to have been assaulted by him at his house two years earlier.
The jury, which consisted of six men and six women, ruled Mendy not guilty after he denied the two allegations.
The court subsequently decided that both encounters had been mutually consenting.
After a three-week trial at Chester Crown Court, Mendy cried as the jury's verdicts, which affirmed his innocence, were read out.
Mendy wept when he was acquitted. According to his lawyers he would now 'rebuild his life' - and a return to top flight football is now likely. The football star filled with emotions declined to comment outside court only to say: 'Alhamdulillah' - an Arabic phrase meaning: 'Praise be to God'.
