Following a heated altercation with teammate Leroy Sane last week, Sadio Mane received a significant punishment from Bayern Munich and the club is now eager to offload him in the summer, according to sources in Germany yesterday.

Following Tuesday's 3-0 loss for the German team at Manchester City, tensions between the two flared, and Mane attacked Sane in the locker room, prompting the intervention of other players.

Sane sustained a lip bruise as a result of the incident, and Mane was pulled off the Bayern team for their Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim on Saturday and had some of his £17 million salary deducted.

The extent of the penalty has finally been made public, with Bayern levying the biggest fine in its history.

“According to our information, it is an amount that goes far beyond €300,000 (£260,000), so it’s a very, very sensitive fine for Mane,” Bayern expert Florian Plettenberg told Sky Germany.

Mane was absent when Bayern drew 1-1 with Hoffenheim at home, and Thomas Tuchel has now won just two of his first five games since taking over from Julian Nagelsmann last month.

The former Chelsea manager has announced that Mane will be available for Bayern's rematch against City on Wednesday as they attempt to stage a stunning comeback to advance to the semi-finals.

Pep Guardiola claimed that Mane and Sane's confrontation may energize Bayern and give them an advantage, but the Senegalese forward only came off the bench for the first game, and it looks Tuchel is not a fan of the former Liverpool player.

From what I’m hearing, Bayern will try everything to offload Sadio Mane in the summer,’ he said.

'From a sporting point of view, Thomas Tuchel has no plans with Mane as he doesn’t fit his system. This is my information. The player is seen very critically internally.’

After a promising start in which he scored on his Bundesliga debut, Mane's first year in Germany has been little short of a nightmare.
