Rufai Sani Hanga, Senator representing Kano Central, has claimed that he donated over 2000 clay pots and 10,500 yards of white fabric (known as 'Likkadani' in Hausa) to Muslim graveyards in his area to please God and earn His eternal reward.

Hanga denied that it was part of his constituency project, as claimed by critics and his opponents, who propagated the lie out of hatred and malice.

The senator faced criticism after donating items to 15 Local Government Areas in his Senatorial Districts last week.

In his first news conference following his election in 2023, Hanga claimed the gesture was something he had been doing even before his election, and it was a family heritage he grew up seeing and inheriting, hoping to continue throughout his lifetime.

“We made the donation to Kano state committee for the graveyards headed by Dangoribar Kano and district head of Tarauni Local government. We had found out that clay pots were lacking in most of our graveyards and decided to donate,” he explained.

Hanga stated that he experienced health issues following his election as senator, spending seven months in hospitals in Nigeria before being flown to Egypt and England, where he spent three months each on hospital beds.
The lawmaker stated that despite his medical problems, which he is still recovering from, he was able to make substantial contributions to improve the lives of his constituents using his personal resources.

He stated that he was successful in getting several projects for his area included in the 2023 budget, and that he will monitor their implementation.
