Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has expressed confidence that his party will secure victory in Nigeria's 2027 presidential election.
During an appearance on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Adebayo asserted that President Bola Tinubu would be defeated in the upcoming elections, paving the way for an SDP-led administration.
Adebayo, who also announced his intention to contest for the presidency again in 2027, emphasized his unwavering commitment to leading his party.
He dismissed concerns about political figures defecting to the SDP, stating that such developments do not intimidate him. "Any coward who feels threatened by people coming into his party cannot be president," he remarked.
The politician’s comments come in the wake of Nasir El-Rufai, the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, joining the SDP earlier this week. El-Rufai has reportedly been engaging other politicians to align with the party.
Despite this, Adebayo welcomed El-Rufai’s membership, describing him as a patriotic and hard-working individual who excels in areas where governmental effectiveness is lacking.
Adebayo further elaborated on his vision for Nigeria, emphasizing that leadership must prioritize addressing systemic issues such as poverty, insecurity, and unemployment.
