Capt. Augustine Okon, the director general of the Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign Council's Akwa Ibom State chapter, expressed his confidence on Friday that Peter Obi's mandate from the recently concluded presidential elections would be restored through legal means.

On Thursday, Obi declared at a meeting that he was prepared to contest the election's outcome.

Okon said, “The PCC Akwa Ibom State has collated enough evidence to prove that His Excellency Peter Obi won the election in Akwa Ibom State and will liaise with the legal team to ensure that the stolen mandate is recovered.

“You are aware that prior to the election, the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, had promised Nigerians that all unit results will be uploaded to the IReV portal from such units through BVAS. But without any notification or explanation, INEC proceeded to manually collate and announce the so-called election results.”

Meanwhile, The Big Tent Campaign Council, an independent organization supporting the Labour Party's candidate for president in the election on February 25 said on Friday that INEC had broken its own rules in the conduct of the elections.

Speaking to reporters in Osogbo, the group's South-West Coordinator, Mr. Lanre Fadahunsi, claimed there was video evidence of INEC's failure to follow the rules it established for the conduct of the poll.

He said, “As the South-West coordinator of the Big Tent Campaign Council, I find this quite amusing that the electoral process could be so compromised."
